Imam Reza (A.S) Historic Letter to His Followers
“O Abdolazim! Convey my greetings to my followers, and advise them them not to allow Satan to deceive them, and order them to keep being silent and to quit what does not bear them any fruits, and to abandon belligerence, and turn to each other ]for help[ since it makes them closer to me”. “Also, tell them not to involve in quarrels with each other; I have made a vow with myself that I ask Allah to allow the severest sufferings in the world for him who enrages any of my true followers and to place him among the losers in the Hereafter”.

Abolghasem Abdol Azim Ibn Abdollah, one of the reliable narrators of the Hadiths of Ahlul Bayt (A.S), was of Hassani Sayyeds’ descendants, and was respected by the Imams of his time. Several narratives assert that the dignified Sayyid was born on 4 Rabi Al Sani, 173 AH. His father was Abdollah Ibn Ali, a descendant of Imam Hassan Mojtaba (A.S), and his mother was Fatimah Bint Aqaba Bin Qeis. Hazrat Abdol Azim had a son named Muhammad- who was a pious and noble man like his father- and a daughter named Umm Salamah from his wife, Khadija Bint Qasem Ibn Hassan Ibn Yazid, who was also his cousin.

One of the privileged moments of Abdol Azim Al-Hassani’s life is his arrival in Iran under Imam Hadi’s order; he was appointed by Imam Hadi (A.S) to disseminate and propagate Islamic precepts and to lead the Shia population there. He entered the town of Rey from Iraq in 250 A.H.
There have remained two books from Hazrat Abdol Azim Hassani (A.S) for the Shiites. One is a book titled “Imam Ali’s Speeches” which is cited in Rijal by Najashi, and the other is “Day and Night” which is referred to in a book (Risalah) by Sahib Ibn Abbad.
Hazrat Abdolazim Hassani’s High Status before the Ahlul Bayt (A.S)
Abu Himad Razi has said: “I visited Imam Hadi (A.S) and asked a few questions of his holiness. When I intended to leave his sacred house, he said: “when you are confronted with any problem, seek their solutions from Abdolazim Hassani, and convey my greetings to him”.
In Sadooq’s book Amali, in a section under the tradition “presenting the religion”, it is said: “when Hazrat Abdol Azim was honored to visit Imam Hadi (A.S), and expressed his ideas, Imam (A.S) said: “you are of our true friends.”
In Kamila Ziyarat, Ibn Qauliyah quoted Ali Ibn Hossein Ibn Mousa Ibn Babouyah who quoted Muhammad Ibn Yahya Ash’ari Attar Qomi that one of the people of Rey said: “I went to Imam Hadi (A.S), he asked me: where were you? I said I had gone to visit Sayyid Al-Shuhada (A.S). He said: be informed that if you had visited Abdolazim Hassani’s grave which is located where you live, it would have been as if you had visited Imam Hossein Ibn Ali (A.S) in Karbala”.
Imam Reza’s Historic letter to Shias as narrated by Abdolazim Hassani
In Bihar al-Anwar, volume 72, a narrative is quoted from Hazrat Abdol Azim (A.S) which is Imam Reza’s message to Shias. In part of the narrative, it reads:
“O Abdolazim! Convey my greetings to my followers, and advise them not to allow Satan to deceive them, and order them to keep being silent and to quit what does not bear them any fruits, and to abandon belligerence, and turn to each other ]for help[ since it makes them closer to me”.
“Also, tell them not to involve in quarrels with each other; I have made a vow with myself that I ask Allah to allow the severest sufferings in the world for him who enrages any of my true followers and to place him among the losers in the Hereafter”.
“Make them aware that Allah Almighty forgives the benefactor, and will disregard the evildoer except the one who ascribes partners to Allah, or the one who embitters one of my followers, or has hatred of my followers in his heart. If so, Allah Almighty will not forgive him until he deserts his head from such thoughts, if he does so it would be good; otherwise, the spirit of faith will depart from his heart, and he will be evicted from my Wilayat and he will not take any advantages from our Wilayat and I take refuge in Allah from such an evil fate”.
