The Reason Why Some People Become Stone-hearted from Imam Reza (A.S) Viewpoint
Worshipping Allah is of such importance that in Quran it has been said: “And I have not created the jinn and the human except to serve Me”. This verse indicates that the philosophy of creating the jinn and the human is worshipping God. Various traditions have reinforced and reiterated this concept.

Clarifying the significance of this issue, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The best of people is the one who is in love with worshipping; therefore, loves it whole-heartedly, and becomes involved with it, and devotes himself to it. Thus, such a person will not worry whether his life passes with difficulty or easily.”

Stating the reason for worship, Imam Reza (A.S) says: “for the people not to forget God, and depart from His traditions, and neglect his commands and prohibitions. The strength and righteousness of men lie in worshipping Allah. If left without worshipping, they become stone-hearted after a while.”

Imam Sadeqh (A.S) said: “In Torah, it reads: ‘O, Son of Man! Spend time on worshipping Me, so that I will make your heart replete with needlessness, and do not leave you to yourself in your needs. I will close the door of needfulness on you, and will fill your heart with My awe. If you do not devote yourself to worshipping Me, I will fill your heart with plight, and will not close the door of needfulness on you, and will leave you to yourself in your needs’.”

The holy Imam has also said: “God Almighty has said: ‘O My true servants! Benefit from the blessings of worshipping Me in the world, so that you will benefit from my blessings in the other world’.”
