As reported by the News and Information Department of Imam Reza (A.S) International Foundation for Culture& Arts, the Non-Iranian guests of the festival who had traveled to Qom during their stay in Iran, visited Ayatollah Marashi Najafi Library, the largest manuscript library in the Islamic world on September 9, 2014.
40 thousand manuscripts with 80 thousand titles are at visitors’ disposal in the library. The oldest one dates back to a millennium ago.
Late Ayatollah Marashi Najafi, one of the Great Religious Authorities about a hundred years ago, gradually bought these unique treasures by hired prayers and fasting during the days and rice milling during the nights as well as cutting back on his meals, Quran recitation and so forth.
In this great library, numerous unique manuscripts such as the oldest Nahj al-Balagha in the world, Qurans attributed to the Holy Prophets (P.B.U.H.) and the marriage certificate of Imam Khomeini can be seen.
It is noteworthy that the Non-Iranian guests of Imam Reza (A.S) International Festival were amazed at seeing the library and its manuscripts.
